Type Locality and Naming
Mid-South Sichuan. The Songlinping Fm was named by Southwest Geological Institute in 1965. The type section is in Songlinping, Mi-anshan Township, Xide County, Sichuan Province. The Songlinping Fm is the lowest formation-level stratigraphic unit in Dengxiangying Gr.
Synonym: (松林坪组)
Lithology and Thickness
It is composed of grey laminated sericite phyllite, sandwiched with metamorphosed sandstone, conglomerate and marble. Magnetite ore bodies occur in the lower part of the formation in some localities. Its thickness varies from 829 m to over 2197 m.

Lower contact
Bottom is not seen.
Upper contact
The top is conformably overlain by the Shengou Fm.
Regional extent
Mid-South Sichuan. It is distributed around Xide, Sichuan Province.
